In 2021 48,183 people died by suicide. That is one death every 11 minutes. The suicide rate amongst males is four times higher than women, although they are 50% of our population they were nearly 80% of those suicides.
During Men’s mental health month, suicide took one of our very own. On June 10th, exactly one month after his 26th birthday Jesse Navlet took his own life leaving his family, friends, and his OTF family shocked and heart broken.
One of five core values that Orangetheory has is community. Community is so much more than the good times. It is also getting through the hardest times – together.
In July I would like to have a donation class called “Beyond a Month” in Jesse’s honor, because focusing on men’s mental health should not be limited to just one month.
