Give to the Max Day
Thursday November 17th is Give to the Max Day and we are asking for you support. Each year, GiveMN sponsors Give to the Max Day which is when all you generous folks pledge your financial support to a charitable organization, such as Face It. Most of you already know (and if you didn’t you do now!) that EVERY service Face It provides is done so free of charge. In addition, we don’t care what type of insurance you have because we don’t bill that either.
YOu won’t last!
When we launched Face It and began telling people that we weren’t going to charge for our services we were told that we had an “unsustainable business model” and that it would just be a matter of time until we failed. Well that was back in 2009 and as I write this the number of services we provide, the number of men we help, and the total number of peer support hours we have provided just continue to grow year after year. The number of individuals who support us continues to grow and our “unsustainable business model” seems to be pushing us in the right direction, which is due in large part to the kind support of general individuals, family foundations, and businesses.
Why free?
Many want to know why we don’t charge. Well first of all many of the guys who walk through our doors are in tough spots financially. Many have lost jobs, many have medical conditions either of their own or in their family that drains their finances, or many simply have never been fully employed due to their struggles with depression. Another reason we don’t charge is because we don’t want the exchange of money to cloud the work we are doing. Far too many guys perceive that if they are paying us, then they believe we are just going to tell them what “they want to hear” and we won’t hold them accountable because they think we don’t want to lose them as customers. Anyone who knows about the work we do here knows that we take accountability and personal responsibility very seriously and no Face It “customer” will accuse us of holding back because we are protecting our financial interests. Rather, we push guys hard to take an active and responsible role in their recovery.
our services
What do we provide? Well you can read firsthand about our services here so you’ll know what your dollars support. But beyond our services what we really provide is connection and hope. Far too many men with depression are without close friends or family that can help ease their burdens, but when a guy gets involved with Face It he often quickly finds other men who understand him, who care about him, and who want to help him! Someone once said that Face It is like Match.com for men with depression and in many ways that is what our services do, we connect people who care about one another!
our successes!
You might be wondering if Face It is a good place to send your hard-earned dollars. I would love to tell you about all of our successes, but it is probably more beneficial for you to read about these victories yourself which you can do here. I will say that I am extremely proud of the work we do and I can without reservation tell you that Face It has indeed saved the lives of many men, some in the form of being transported to the hospital and some in the form of helping them move beyond their addictions and suicidal thoughts. Face It works and I hope you’ll help us continue to grow by clicking here for the Give to the Max Day donation page. Thank you!
Take care!
