Face It For Your Children
When you’re suffering from depression, it’s hard (if not impossible) to be a good father. Your kids need, want and deserve a healthy dad. Face your depression for them.
Think you are the only one your depression is hurting? Every time the depression makes you feel agitated and angry instead of loving and patient, your kids suffer, too.
Dads living with depression often see themselves as inadequate parents. You may feel guilty about the way you treat your children, which can make you turn away from your kids when they need you most.
Untreated depression can lead to suicide. If you kill yourself, your children may never get over your death. They’ll likely feel responsible and wonder what they did to cause your suicide. They will be left with a lifetime of unanswered questions and unfulfilled promises.
What’s more, children who grow up in homes with depression are at greater risk for developing depression later in life. Would you ever want your kids to go through what you’re going through now?
Face your depression for your kids. They deserve a happier future, and so do you.
